THE VALUE OF REST

Hello Friends,

I am getting ready to go on vacation but before I go, I want to share a few things with you about Rest.

Rest is an Action.

I remember back in the day when I used to tell my friends that I was going on a “hiatus” and I’d let them know when my break was over. My friends would get so upset, but I knew Rest was necessary. I was like this as a little girl too. I would take time to simply sit still and be. I didn’t know it was called Rest at the time, but I knew it was something I needed to do so I could make plans and conquer the world. Yep, I was thinking big back then too. ?

Rest is Empowering.

Rest gives you time to think more clearly. Rest creates space for you to be creative. Rest makes room for you to consider the next steps you must take. Rest grants you the opportunity to see the big picture and focus on the little things, simultaneously. Rest is the place where a blank canvas is created, so strategies can be birthed and executed.

Rest is a Protest.

Rest is my personal protest when everything seems to be coming towards me at the same time. Rest calms the noise and creates vision and possibilities. Rest is a four-letter word that reminds me that all is well.

Rest is a Teacher.

I have learned some valuable lessons about Rest. Every single time I have put it off or treated it like it was optional, I have regretted it. Sure, I can forfeit Rest and keep going and many times I have, but that is not the best way for me to serve myself or others.

Rest is a Decision.

So, before I go on vacation this week, before I take some time to Rest and indulge in a little bit of self-care, I have one assignment for you. If you know you need to take a break, please carve out some time to REST.  Do it unapologetically. You and everyone you adore will be much better on the other side of your REST.

Rest is Valuable and so are YOU.  Let me know how you plan to rest.
